NDIS’ Supported Independent Living (SIL) helps you live independently in your home or an accommodation of your choice.
SIL support is for participants who require additional assistance to perform daily activities and chores. This enables participants to live independently with continuous support others 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
The SIL is an alternative to residential aged care. Eventually it’s the participant’s choice where to live and with whom, what kind of supports and services are required for an independent living.
Participant can plan to have the loved ones – family and friends come over to visit in the SIL accommodation.
The participant may choose to get some personal possessions while moving into new home under the SIL program. It simply means a home of your choice with an environment conducive to your requirements and giving you your personal space i.e your bedroom and ample living space within the accommodation including the common areas like kitchen etc.
Incase of any medical illness the staff member assigned to the participant will assist with medical needs, medication management and if required contact professional help and look after your medical needs.
